Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What is your opinion regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?
Clients should be educated about their legal issues.  While I welcome clients to complete their own research, I think it is my job to inform my clients of the law and their options.

Are you willing to review documents prepared by clients?
I am happy to review all documents that may be relevant to a case.

Why did you decide to become a lawyer?
I considered law school throughout my undergraduate course work.  I studied logic, the history of constitutional law, and criminology.  I shadowed some attorneys through their work days.  With each new topic I learned and the more I saw attorneys at work, the more I enjoyed the legal field.  I am exceedingly happy with my choice and would not change it for anything.

Why did you decide on your primary practice area?
I did not choose my primary practice areas by happenstance.  I started law school with the intent to thoroughly explore as many areas of the law as possible.  I completed internships in the areas of criminal law, family law, and immigration.  I studied taxes, estate planning, appellate practice, and many other areas.  I spoke and met with attorneys in various practice areas.  I found that I enjoy aggressively defending against criminal charges and helping families navigate the justice system with as little trauma as possible.  I really enjoy being able to fight for my clients’ liberty and their families more than fighting for a corporation’s monetary gain.

What work experience and education helps you be a better lawyer?
I think my internships in the areas of criminal law, family law, and immigration prepared me and allowed me to observe the styles of several attorneys.

What do you like best about your career?
I really enjoy meeting and talking with my clients.  I like being able to help my clients solve problems, strategizing, negotiating, and preparing for trial when necessary.

What are your strengths and style?
I am very detail-oriented and thorough.  I like to work with my client to determine the approach for each case.  I believe in allowing my clients and their needs to dictate the course of action and the tone of the case.

What are your personal interests?
I enjoy spending time with my family (especially my husband a new baby) and friends, gymnastics, gardening, crocheting, and, of course, the Colts!
